  • Sun Burn: Eyes get sun burnt too; many people do not know this fact. They spent time outside without proper protection, especially being in places that have reflective surfaces and water bodies that reflect too much light.   • UV Exposure: Ultra violet rays are present in the sunlight. Many of us are unaware that UV rays affect our eyes also just like the skin. Exposure to UV rays for a prolonged period of time results in various eye problems associated with too much ultra violet rays passing through to the cornea. The most common problem associated with high UV ray exposure is the case of increasing number of Macular degeneration cases seen that highlight the fact that eyes are not safe in the presence of UV exposure. It is also true that not only Macular Degeneration, there is also pterygium, corneal problems and other eye problems that are associated with UV exposure. A good protection or precaution against this UV exposure is the use of UV protected sunglasses.
  • Cataracts: Cataracts are one of the main reasons for loss of eyesight in elderly as well as in adults. These people are affected by a lot of things; some develop cataracts due to age, some due to birthdefects and some due to UVB exposure. The UVB rays have been found liable for an increasing number of Cataract cases and the use of sunglasses with UV protection can decrease these cases to a good extent.
